Intro to Natural Dyes Workshop

Intro to Natural Dyes with Cady Faus

Discover the bountiful world of natural dyes in this hands-on workshop introducing you to the alchemy of plant dyes, ecological art, and slow making.

We'll cover the fundamentals of plant dyeing — from preparing different fabrics to building your own dye baths, then overdyeing to create new colors. Test fabric samples are provided so you can experiment before committing to your palette.

Each participant dyes their own 100% merino wool fisherman beanie (one size fits all) to carry into fall and winter, choosing from 3 plant dye colors along the way.

Perfect for beginners and experienced dyers alike, this class deepens our appreciation for local plants and for the slow fashion and textile choices tied to Colorado's Fibershed mission.

All materials included — beanie, fabric, mordanting materials, and dyes.

Taught by Cady Faus, a natural dyer and mixed media artist based in Boulder, CO, whose practice draws on Katazome and Tsutsugaki techniques studied internationally, and a belief that curiosity without judgement is the best tool in the arts of natural dyeing.

Limited to 10 participants. Reserve your spot below! 🌿
